Rising Stars: Ibrahim Kamara

19 09 2018

Ibrahim Kamara, London-based stylist and visual artist, explores masculinity and champions equality and freedom of expression through his work, focusing on cultural and sexual empowerment.

Born in Sierra Leone and raised in Gambia until he was 16, when he moved to London, Kamara has since studied at Central Saint Martins, styled the youth of Nigeria for Kenzo, worked on a short film for Mercury Prize-winning singer Sampha, collaborated with photographer Kristin-Lee Moolman on an exclusive shoot for Burberry’s September 2017 collection, and taken over as fashion editor at i-D Magazine. Last month, collaborating again with Moolman, as well as designer Gareth Wrighton - with whom he worked on exhibitions for MoMA and the Tate - Kamara presented his Soft Criminal exhibition at Red Hooks Lab, Brooklyn, which paid tribute to creative Africa.
